Kim Boustead
A few days ago I sat down with Kim for an informal chat. We both lit cigarettes. She a Vantage Light, myself, a Tareyton. As the blue haze from our smokes danced in the air, I said, “Kim, you’re new here, so there’s some shit we gotta get straight.” Kim lowered her eyes, tossed out a flippant glance, and replied, “Aren’t you the guy whose supposed to get me business cards?” Check. Mate. I am, and Kim does need business cards. But in that moment, I knew the powers-that-be had found another special nut for our mix.
The rest of conversation passed quickly. Me taking notes about what Kim needed (indoor binoculars, a box of Cherry Laffy Taffy, japanese origami scissors). I wrote it all down in my head, excused myself, and made my way back to my corner.
Later that day, I sidled up to her and said, “Kim, one more thing.” She replied with a fuzzy, “Make it quick.” I stammered, regained, and quickly asked her how she’d describe her approach to design. Kim pondered earnestly. Then poetically replied, “I’d prefer to draw you a picture than explain myself.”
So there you have it. Kim Boustead. From Penn-Georg-isota, America. Caretaker of Charlie Sparkle, the famous bedazzled snail, and obsessive collector of ear rings. We couldn’t be happier to have her in our nuthouse.
Your move, world!
