Is that a particle accelerator on your lapel?

Commemorative Tevatron Pin and Posters

Part of the celebration/retirement party for Fermilab’s Tevatron was the commission of a commemorative pin and two posters. Sandbox had never before designed a pin, but we were happy to do so and are very pleased with how they turned out. (The design of the pin is based on one of super-conducting magnets that line the inside of the Tevatron and guide the particle beam-lines.)

The posters were designed to be informative and representative of the size and beauty of the Tevatron. The time-line poster shows each major milestone for the Tevatron, while the second poster uses a beautiful photograph by Fermilab’s photographer, Reidar Hahn, to show the accelerator’s beauty at night.

The Tevatron will be officially shut down on Friday, September 30th, with festivities and physics-themed shenanigans going on all day at Fermilab.

Update: boingboing.com features a Tevatron photo essay which includes pictures of our commemorative Tevatron pin and posters.

Update 2: Batavia, Illinois, news site picks up Tevatron story and uses our commemorative pin as its lead photo.
