The site’s launch announced big changes at Shepherd—it unveiled both a new brand direction and a new performing arts building for Rice students. Sandbox produced the website in cooperation with the firm overseeing the brand rollout. They supplied us with design guidelines, and assets including lavish photography.
In 2023 the site’s central events section was enhanced to improve the interface. It now prominently displays photographic teasers promoting marquee events. The interface allows the user to choose between a list view and graphic calendar view with the listing allowing filtering by topics of interest. Users now follow a seamless path to purchasing tickets.
Live performances continued throughout the worst of the COVID epidemic, sometimes without audiences, and this necessitated live streaming. This capability continues to prove its worth on the site and remains a valuable option for many performances.
